The "FCK" in JoomlaFCK stands for Frederico Caldeira Knabben, the creator of the FCK editor. Frederico used to use the FCK as a VarName while developing, to indicate temporary things he introduced in the code. While living in Rome, his Italian co-workers used to tease him about the "FCK Things" detailed in the code. So, in the late 2002, he decided to call his editor project "FCKeditor", as it fitted well with his friends jokes. Unfortunately, those letters resemble a very bad English word something that Frederico, a native Brazilian, was unaware of when he first released the program. In August 2009 he decided to change the projects name to 'CKEditor' beginning with v3.0. In following Frederico and the mother project we have decided to omitted the ‘F’ from the 'JoomlaFCK' and rebrand the Joomla! implementation of the editors to "JoomlaCK" editor. |
