Version 5.0 is the new serious of the JCK Editor. Its massive leap forward and comes packaged with many new pioneering features as well as HTML5 support. We’ve also done a lot of work to improve the usability, which see the editor equipped with a helpful installation wizard and equipped with its own typography style-sheet, ready for you to use right out-of-the-box! It is strongly recommended that users immediately upgrade.

This is a security release and contains a number of bug fixes, improvements as well as security fixes. Please see changelogs for more infomation.

Fixes:

• jTree link wasn’t  working in multiple instance
•  Button wasn’t loading up correctly on the 2nd and 3^rd instance of itself. These affect the editor in 3^rd party component requiring it to be loading up multiple times on a page.
• Fix: address an issue with the editor’s new authentication system which caused the “file browser is disabled for security reasons” alert to be thrown when the Joomla system was managing international languages.
• Fix: address an issue with decoding encrypted session data.

New Features:

• Added ‘rel’ attribute tag to the link dialog. The ‘rel’ attribute specifies the relationship between the current document and the linked document in HTML5. Please see: http://www.w3schools.com/html5/att_a_rel.asp for more information.
• Added a new color picker to the editor parameters. This allows users to select and change the color the editor skin and background color of the editing area.

Improvements:

• Remove the reliance of mootool to load up the subsequent instance of the editor.
• Improve performance enhancement on the loading on the subsequent instance of the editor.
• Remove its reliance on the window onload-event - this was problematic and caused a race condition which could have prevented the subsequent instances of the editor loading up.
• Remove the reliance on Joomla caching system in the authentication process. This works to by bass server side file permission issue which resulted in authentication failures.

Legacy Versions* New Internal linking plug-in: Jtree link is a state-of-the-art Internal content linking plug-in for Joomla!. Users can visually follow the tree link down through nested categories to articles and is both 1.5 and 1.6 compatible! Its architecture is also totally extendable, so developers can quickly create extensions for it, expand it functionally to extent to any component!  It also supports Joomla’s modal squeeze-box plug-in so users can view pages in a light-box preview.

* Introduced a new set of 1.6 user group parameters which allows allow selected user groups to be exempted from the default user folder settings. The default rules being that users are assigned their own personal image, file and flash folders. This addresses the 'File Browser doesn't work' bug reported in post: #1812.

* Now conforms to PHP5's strict compliance. This was done to better support Xamp which is a easy to install Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl. Due to the PHP5's strict compliance the editor not longer support PHP4.
