GNU Aspell is a Free and Open Source spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell. Its main feature is that it does a superior job of suggesting possible replacements for a misspelled word than just about any other spell checker out there for the English language. Unlike Ispell, Aspell can also easily check documents in UTF-8 without having to use a special dictionary. Aspell will also do its best to respect the current locale setting. Other advantages over Ispell include support for using multiple dictionaries at once and intelligently handling personal dictionaries when more than one Aspell process is open at once.

• This plugin has now been updated so that it uses the PHP integration of Adpell  called Pspell so that it no longer requires the use of a command line call to get the spelling results.
• Minor fixes to remove perfomance issue with default spellchecker plugin.

Important Note

• This plugin requires Aspell which is a Server-Side App to be installed and enabled.
• Please note that you should disable the editor's default spellchecker and SpellCheckAsYouType (Scayt) plug-ins when using this plug-in.

Installation Notes

• Please note that this "plug-in" is required to be installed via the editor's JCK Manager component. This looks and works similar to the stock Joomla installer allowing users to expand the functionality of the editor with JCK plug-ins. Please see our Installation Guide for more information.
