What is the easiest way to handle youtube video?

Is there a plugin that can do the job easily via a toolbar icon? Or maybe by pasting the video url via the link icon?

I'd prefer a way that produces a popup rather than an embedded video, is this possible? And can it be linked off an automatically generated thumbnail of the video?

A long wish list sorry, but here's hoping.

We developed a fantastic plug-in for the editor which can do this for you in the editor toolbar. It works in conjunction with the popular AllVideos plugin (by JoomlaWorks) and can support the following media types: www.joomlaworks.gr/content/view/35/41/. It offer a pop-up light-box from the embedded video.

We plan to release it to all subscribers along with the image editor, next week.

Okay, so I have installed the 3.3.1 update, but no luck with using it to insert youtube video yet.

I create an article, click the flash button, paste in the youtube url for the video, and save. I get a flash graphic showing in the editor window, save again. But in the page I just get blank space where the video is to be.

Must be something obvious , ideas??

Thank you for your post.

We have had an internal discussion with regards to how the editor should work with 3rd party plug-ins and felt it necessary to ‘first’ release version 3.3.1 (which happen last Friday), in which we have made some important changes to the way that the editor works. This has been done to ensure compatibility with any plug-in we build in the future.

This week we will be working on and hope to release a ‘component’ for the editor which will allow users to simply install, uninstall and upgrade custom plug-ins, without the hassle of a manual operation. So in a roundabout way we have been working on making the whole process easier for you. As soon as this has been done we will release our ‘image editor’ plug-in and soon after the ‘AllVideos’ editor plug-in and many more.

So the flash button on the toolbar can't be used in the way I described to insert a link to youtube videos??

But it's coming in the AllVideos plugin?

Hi,

The flash plugin is there to allow you to upload and embed flash animation files not videos files. Yes - its coming in the AllVideos plugin!

(Off topic, but I noticed the current image plugin has an align left and right, but no align centre. I guess that is coming? Also, a way to set the alignment by default?)
