Hi guys, I'm using JoomlaFCK 2.6.4.1 with Joomla 1.5.18

every time i try to link a world or an image to a file, when i click on "browse" there is this message

The server didn't reply with a proper XML data. Please check your configuration

i try with permission at 755 or 777

i'm usin JoomlaFCK in others 7 website madde in joonla with the same hosting...someone have any idea!?

Hi Denis,


Thank you for your post.

It is either 1 of 2 issues:

1. A security rule which was introduced in Joomla 1.5.15. This was comments out in the .htaccess file however, if this rule was manually applied the following error could have occurred. The new 3.3.1 version is compliant with the security rule if applied.

Hi Paul, thanks for your answer.
Now i'm using 3.3.1 version, now with new component and new plugin, i don't have the same problem.

When i try to make a link with a file, i open the windows caled File browser and i CAN'T create a new folder and i CAN'T made the upload of the file!

(1.) Joomla! version = 1.5.18
(2.) Server type = ?
(3.) Editor version = 3.3.1
(4.) Browsers type & Version = ?
(5.) Are you using Joomla's recommended server-side requirements? please see: www.joomlackeditor.com/downloads/installation-guide?start=1 for more info?
(5.) Also can you tell me your 'file' and folder 'permissions' for the image directory?

well, this about the system:

joomla 1.5.20

editor 3.3.1

Server type Apache/2.2

PHP Version 5.2.13

Browser : i tried with Safari 5.0.1 and Firefox 3.6.8

Permission folder image and files are set to 755

I used all the suggestion found in the server-side guide; i installed all the JCK plugin, i can link to another webpage, i can use all about the editor. But when i try to use Document link -- > find on the server -->

the windows called File Browser appair with the voice Resource Type : not planned and i can't choose noting

i can choose a file from my disc, but upload function doesn't work, likes create new folder doesn't work.

I'm sorry to make this disturb, i use the same editor, until today JoomlaFCK 2.6.4.1, with the same template, on the same server ( Aruba ) without problem... only in these case...

but i'd like to understand why this appen.

1.) Can you tell me what the file path has been set to - in the editor Joomla plugin?

Location of the Images = ?
Location of the flash files = ?
Location of the Documents = ?

2.) and if values, 755 and 0644 for folders and files have been used respectively?

3.) Lastly do you have PHPsuExec, php_suexec or suPHP installed?

Hi again Denis,

suPHP is a Apache module which is a recommend server-side requirement for those using Joomla. If you are using suPHP or something similar then you are able to use the recommended values, 755 and 0644 for folders and files respectively. If not then try using the less secure way of 777.

If you are unsure that this is operational then the best thing to do is to ask your hosting provider.

This is not to say that the editor will not work if you are using a different configuration however, you may have to play around with your servers file permissions to get the editor to function correctly, - So this maybe the cause of your troubles.
