TOPIC: Can't publish from front end
#769
Can't publish from front end 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
I have Joomla site and default front end editor JoomlaFCK (now it's new version JoomlaCK editor). When some member (they are all Author type of user) try to write some article, they can write it, but can't publish it, so I have to publish it from the back end. All users are Author type and I can't give them more rights because of contract. When I used previous version JoomlaFCK they can publish articles, now with new version they can't. I check all Joomla options, but not found anything. I know it's simple, maybe right in front of me, but it's very annoying for me. Help. TIA.

Hi dzvonko,

Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately editors do not have the ability to publish articles as this is handed by Joomla. By default articles submitted from the front-end are always unpublished however, maybe you had a 3rd partly extensions that managing this part of your system or maybe your system was previously modified and the change undone with an Joomla! update.

I imagine this might be the case if articles submitted from the front-end were being automatically published.

Hope this helps.

If you use JoomlaCK Editor, please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Thanks for Your answer. This extension was joomlaFCK editor that replaced built-in editor (which doesn't worked well, I don't know why). Old version had ability to publish from front-end and new version don't have it (of course if users are Publishers, they can publish).

I need user levels to manage what anyone can write and where anyone can write, who is responsible for what, so I can't do that if everybody are Publishers. That's the point of user levels, right? That's why I needed front-end user rights.

That is school portal with texts from teachers, lessons, tasks, assignments, homeworks, exercises, problems, solutions, advices, tests, marks, texts from pupils, suggestions, web quests, research works, parents comments, texts, opinions, expert views, etc. Now You can see that no one should have rights to change anything in some others text. Users need editor that is similar with one that they use it every day like MS Office or OpenOffice. That is what is all about.

Anyway, I'll try to use old version of joomlaFCK editor and try to find new editor that can publish from front-end.

Hi dzvonko,

Thank you for your post.

All editors (JoomlaFCK, JoomlaCK, JCE and Tinymce) are a fancy way of writing into a textbox! What happens to that html text when saved is completely managed by Joomla! In other words Joomla editors ONLY assist the user to write html – nothing more!

The old JoomlaFCK never had the ability to automatically publish articles, it may have seamed too because you interacted with the system via the editor. But in fact it was another application managing your front-end article submission.

What you need is a 3rd party component that will manage your front-end article submission, please see: extensions.joomla.org/extensions/news-pr...n/content-submission for a list of possible application that may meet your needs.

Take care,

Paul
