Editor not installing - error message 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, I would really appreciate some help please

I have been trying to upgrade my editor a number of times on several of my websites, however, regardless of whether I try to install the 2.6 or the 3 version .tgz or .zip files I always receive the following message on all my websites. I have no problems installing any other Joomla extentions.

* Plugin Install: DB function failed with error number 2006
MySQL server has gone away SQL=SELECT `id` FROM `i0qu_plugins` WHERE folder = 'editors' AND element = 'jckeditor'
SQL =

SELECT `id` FROM `i0qu_plugins` WHERE folder = 'editors' AND element = 'jckeditor'

* Error Loading ModulesMySQL server has gone away SQL=SELECT id, title, module, position, content, showtitle, control, params FROM i0qu_modules AS m LEFT JOIN i0qu_modules_menu AS mm ON mm.moduleid = m.id WHERE m.published = 1 AND m.access <= 2 AND m.client_id = 1 ORDER BY position, ordering

I contacted my Host about this and he is also at a loss as to what this means.

Any help will be appreciated

Hi Adrien,

It sound like your database closed the connection before the editor could install.

(1.) I would 1st try downloading and installing the tar.gz package of the editor as it has a smaller file size and should install quicker - ( www.joomlackeditor.com/downloads/3/131-version-3 ).

if not:

(2.) Please see: www.joomlackeditor.com/tutorials/57-trou...cution-time-exceeded for instruction of what to do next.

Thanks

Re:Editor not installing - error message ¡solution! 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 2
1. Joomla disable FTP.

2. Change permissions on the directories.

chmod-R 777 images
half chmod-R 777
chmod-R 777 components
chmod-R 777 languages
chmod-R 777 modules
chmod-R 777 plugins/
chmod-R 777 plugins/content/
chmod-R 777 plugins/editors/
chmod-R 777 templates
chmod-R 777 administrator / backups
chmod-R 777 administrator / components
chmod-R 777 tmp

3. Then retry to install a component or pluging, modules.

for safety when we finish installing the permissions back to 755 again

with this should be solved the problem, the editor and managed to install working correctly

Thanks karlitamx for you helpful post.

The error message:

* Plugín Instalar: DB function failed with error number 2006

MySQL server has gone away SQL=SELECT `id` FROM `jos_plugins` WHERE folder = 'editors' AND element = 'jckeditor'

SQL =
This suggests that your database may be timing out when trying to install the editor's plugin, so you may need to perform a 'Install from Directory' installation. This will require ftp access to your site to upload the plugin files or you may be able to upload them via your hosting control panel.

You will need to download our package and then extract the files locally on your hard drive. Then I would recommend using the 'Install from Directory' method. Please see 'Install from Directory' at www.joomlackeditor.com/tutorials/57-trou...cution-time-exceeded

Take care,

Paul
