3.4.7.1 has not addressed "diabled for security reasons" problem completely 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Paul F,

I installed the 3.4.7.1 update package after finding this problem yesterday. (I'm a new JCK user, installing it the day before).

Before the patch, I was unable to "Browse server" from the add image dialog at all, after the patch it most often works, however I still see the same problem on occasion.

You mentioned in the (now locked) previous thread that the 3.4.7 security fix involved partially loading the editior, and I can't help thinking that there may be some timing or sequence issue here.

To work around the problem, I have found that if I cancel out of the image dialog, "apply" the item being edited, and try again it most often works. (I suspect because the page is reloaded.) Also, I noted that if the image dialog allowed browse server to work once, then it will continue to work (allowing multiple images to be inserted) until the item is "applied". It seems like the problem only occurs on the first use, and if the problem does occur, the page needs to be reloaded to fix the problem. (maybe this is stating the obvious...)

I am running JCK 3.4.7.1 on J1.5.23 on a linux server.

Looking forward your response.

Anything further happening with this problem?

Anyone else experienced the same with J1.5 and the browse server not working when attempting to insert an image?

As of 3.4.7 there is a security check in place so as in the error message:

"The file browser is disabled for one of the following reasons: 1. The user does not have sufficient privileges to access the file browser. 2. The file browser files do not have sufficient privileges to be executable. 3 This could be due to a security rule been applied by your htaccess file."

  1. You would recieve this message if all your files and folders permission for the editor are 777 and 666 and your joomla install requires them to be 755 and 644.

  2. You recieve this message, espically in J!1.7, if you are using and don't have sufficient privileges to use the file browser

  3. You would recieve this message if you have a htaccess rule blocking you from using the filebrowser.

Hello,

We are having this issue as well (on J1.7). In our case it is usergroup connected. Usergroup "Author" does work nicely, however our additonal usergroup (let's call them "author2") does not work.

What exactly are the "sufficient privilegs" we need to grant here?

Sorry, if this sounds like a stupid question...

Best regards

You need to go into the Admin section then Article Manager > options > permissons

Then check that the Author2 user group has the edit or create permisson
