I recently watched ‘Meet the Robersons' with my 4 year old son. A very significant part of the film focuses on Cornelius Robinson's mantra of "keep moving forward" and puts in perspective the important components of any creative process.
"Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things - because we're curious. And curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. We're always exploring and experimenting."
In the latest edition (version 3.4.7 beta) we done exactly that, we’ve returned to our creative roots and married it with the latest technical advancements!

Joomla! 1.7
A few days ago Joomla released their new 1.7x series which sees the framework separated from the CMS. In following suit our editor has needed to undergo some important changes which have given our Editor, Manager and some of our Plug-ins, there first début Joomla 1.7 compatibility! Due to this and the newness of Joomla 1.7 we have decided to release 3.4.7 first as a beta.
CSS3
We are also excited to tell you that the editor now harnesses the power of CSS3 and puts some of its coolest tricks to use! CSS3 gradients, text shadows, drop shadows and rounded corners providing a modern and contemporary feel. We've also added lots of beautiful hover and active states on tabs and buttons, to give improve usability and accessibility. Please note that CSS3 is not yet support by all web browsers, so you may have to upgrade to something better to experience all this goodness!
Spell Check As You Type (SCAYT) plug-in
It keeps getting better! Now you can do more by configuring the maximum amount suggestions, or enable the plug-in to give you more suggestions and importantly change the default language settings. This featured can only be configured by using the editor with version 3.2 of the JCK Manager Pro.
jTree Link (Internal Content Linking)
We’ve also been working hard to rollout multilingual support for jTree Link. The plug-in now supports utf-8 special characters and comes with multilingual language support for Finnish, German, French, Spanish and Italian. We would also like to thanks daneli for supplying the Finnish translation.
Style list combo-box
We’ve also been working to improve how CSS styles are rendered and displayed within the editor style list combo-box. I’m sure you will notice the different!
The advantage of configuring the editor to use a custom style-sheet is that you can control what typography styles are used by the end-user. This works to dramatically improve the workflow and ensures that the website is kept looking clean and consistent. To learn how to do this – Click here…
Better control over characters & entities
To make special characters and accented letters show up on your page, the editor uses a special set of codes called character entities, which you insert into your HTML code and which your browser will display as the corresponding symbols or characters you want.
For a variety of reasons some users have requested better control over how these entities are processed. We always are open to listen and have followed your recommendations. Now you can configure the editor to works and change it to better fit your needs. You can even make it use character glyphs while setting the editor to only process the ‘Ampersand’ entity!
